Rhodenbaugh Adds Fink As Associate Head Coach

Jun 28

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Swimming Head Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh announced the hiring of Roric Fink to his staff on Friday. Fink will join the staff in the role of associate head coach.

Fink has spent the past two seasons at Arizona as an assistant and associate head coach. This was his second stint with the program, previously serving in the same role from 2003-10.

"Roric is an incredible person that is one of the most successful coaches in America today," Rhodenbaugh said. "He has worked with every level of athlete from developmental swimmers to Olympic Gold Medalists. Over his last two decades, his focus has been on elite college swimmers where he has excelled at coaching and directing student-athletes through their college years and beyond.

"We are fortunate to be adding him not only to our staff but to the athletic department and SMU in general."

Fink has spent time on the Hilltop before, helping out as a volunteer assistant back in 2022.

He also boasts extensive and impressive club coaching experience, having built one of the nation's top aquatics clubs, Ford Aquatics, while in Tucson. While there, he steered the development of Lacey Nymeyer, Dave Rollins, Tyler DeBerry, and Marcus Titus, all of whom went on to win NCAA National Championships with Arizona.

The Mustangs Are Coming! On the heels of a school-record eight-championship season and set for its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), SMU is riding a surge of momentum heading into 2024-25.

SMU has already set a new season-ticket sales record for Ford Stadium, with sales up more than 60%, and tickets for men's and women's basketball are also selling at record rates.

To continue the momentum, SMU Athletics invites you to become part of the Game Changer program, by selling season tickets within your network. As SMU moves to the ACC, we need you to introduce SMU to your friends and colleagues. Signing up is easy! You'll be paired with a ticket sales executive and you will be helping us fill Ford Stadium this fall.
