DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's tennis head coach
Jeff Nevolo announced their Fall 2024 schedule, which features nine events, including the SMU Invitational at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex during the first weekend in October.
"Our group is excited to take on a challenging fall slate," said coach Nevolo. "Each tournament we are playing features some of the most prestigious programs in the country, and we look forward to competing and learning where we need to improve for our spring season."
The Mustangs will start their fall campaign in Waco, Texas, with the HEB Invitational, hosted by Baylor, running from Sept. 20-22, followed by their first of four Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) events with the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, from Sept. 21-29. SMU will battle for 10 NCAA singles spots and 4 NCAA doubles spots in North Carolina.
The Mustangs will then participate in the ACU Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian from Sept. 27-29 before hosting the SMU Invitational from Oct. 4-6. Another opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships will be at the ITA Texas Regional Championships hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Oct. 10-14. Twenty-six NCAA singles and 13 NCAA doubles qualifiers will be named at the regional. SMU will return to Fort Worth two weeks later as they compete in the TCU Invitational from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.
The ITA Conference Masters and ITA Sectional Championships scheduled for Nov. 7-10 are the final two NCAA qualifying opportunities for the Mustangs this fall. The ITA Conference Masters will be held in San Diego, CA, while the ITA Sectional Championships will take place in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Baylor will host the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships, where 64 singles players and 32 doubles pairs will compete for the national championship from Nov. 19-24.
