BRYAN – COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) -- SMU wins for the second competition weekend in a row – also taking the first and second places individually – at the Texas A&M Invitational. The team scored 48 points for first place.
"We placed five women in the top 26 with a 1-2 punch of Kaitlyn and Emily," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "The entire team was patient early, applied pressure over the final two kilometers and came away with the win."
Kaitlyn Gearin ran a time of 17:05.6 to win the meet followed by Emily Little in second with a time of 17:11.2. Leoni Mierswa was third across the line for the Mustangs in seventh place running the 5k in 17:22.6. Flora Tissier ran the race in 17:42.4 for 12th place. Faustine Chaboche came in 26th with 18:04.0.
Ellie Grammas was 33rd and Macey Hilton was 35th. Kendall Saeger finished 50th and Megan Aaron was 82nd with 155 athletes competing.
The athletes will compete again on September 28th in Stillwater, Oklahoma for the Cowboy Jamboree.
