DALLAS (SMU) — SMU Men's Soccer won 3-2 against Boston College at Washburne Stadium on Saturday.

Stephan Soghomonian scored his second hat trick of the season as the Mustangs capitalized on a strong second-half showing to win their third Atlantic Coast Conference match of the season.

The Mustangs outshot Boston College 14 to four in the second half. They outshot 18 to five through 90 minutes and controlled 57 percent of the possession.

Kevin Hudson's team is now 3-1-2 in ACC play and has an overall record of 7-3-3.

How It Happened
In a balanced first half, SMU had the initiative in the first few minutes of the match.

Stephan Soghomonian took the Mustangs' first big chance on a free kick right outside the penalty box. He curled a strong shot towards the goal, which the goalkeeper punched away.

Both teams had their spell of possession through the first 38 minutes of the match before the Eagles opened the scoreline. They scored on a transition from the left wing.

The visitors led 1-0 after 45 minutes.

SMU was on the front as soon as the second half started.

The Mustangs broke through with the equalizer through
Stephan Soghomonian's header in the 67
th minute.

Daniel Escorcia freed up
Ryan Clanton-Pimentel on the right wing, who then swung a cross into the penalty box, which Soghomonian confidently headed into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Three minutes later, SMU earned its chance to take the lead through a penalty kick due to a BC defender handball. Soghomonian scored the penalty kick in the 69
th minute.

In under five minutes, the Mustangs won their second penalty kick of the match as
Jaylinn Mitchell drew a foul inside the penalty box. Soghomonian took the penalty and converted it in the 73
rd minute to extend the lead and score his hat trick.

Boston College decreased its deficit to 3-2 in the 82
nd minute, but SMU's defense stood tall to claim three points after 90 minutes.
