DALLAS (SMU) – SMU men's golf jumped up into fourth place after a strong day two at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
The Mustangs came into the day alone in seventh at five-under par. They were within striking distance of a top spot. On Monday, the team charged up the leaderboard with a 13-under day. They moved all the way into first place at one point before falling into fourth, five shots back of the top spot occupied by South Alabama.
Will Sides continues to lead the Mustangs squad. He shot another round of five-under in round two including an eagle on the 596 yard second hole. He has just one bogey across his 36 holes and sits alone in third. Sides is two strokes back of the co-leaders.
Gabe Post sits in a tie for 16
th after a two-under second round. Post shot a 34 in a bogey-free back nine. Two shots back of Post sits
Zachary Kingsland and
Christian Clark. Kingsland carded a 68 on day two to move up 24 spots on the leaderboard. Clark shot two-under 70 in round two and shares 25
th with Kingsland and four others.
Areen Aggarwal carded a 71 beginning his day with two straight birdies. He holds a share of 42
nd.
The secondary SMU team occupies 14
th place.
Andrew Petruzzelli leads the way in 12
th. He birdied seven times on the day including each of his last three holes to complete his 67.
Matthew Foster sits in 42
nd at one over. Freshman
Ben Steinmann is at three-over in 51
st. Freshmen
Zhengqian Li (81

th) round out the lineup.
The team returns to their home course for the third and final round on Tuesday.
