December 1st marks the start of the 2025-26 Mustang Club membership year – the point in which all Mustang Club members can begin making donations toward their membership level and priority points for the 2026-27 sports seasons. As part of this new year, SMU Athletics is rolling out a simplified Mustang Club membership structure to make benefits clearer and reduce unnecessary complexity.
The new structure reduces Mustang Club membership levels from 14 to eight, removes overlapping benefits, and introduces a clear naming convention (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.) that more intuitively communicates the hierarchy of giving levels.
"Supporters told us they wanted a Mustang Club benefits chart that was intuitive, streamlined, and easy to understand," said SMU Director of Athletics
Damon Evans. "This redesign eliminates confusion, removes redundant levels, and creates a clearer alignment between philanthropic support and meaningful benefits. It's a better experience for our donors and a stronger foundation for our long-term success."
A Clean, Intuitive Membership Structure
Previously, several Mustang Club levels offered identical benefits despite having different names such as "Horseshoe," "Triple Crown," etc. -- designations that did not clearly indicate which level was higher or more impactful. The new structure replaces these legacy names with a nationally recognizable tiered system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.) where each step up reflects increased access, enhanced benefits, or greater philanthropic commitment.
By consolidating redundant levels and adopting clearer naming conventions, Mustang Club members will now see:
- Simplified level progression
- Clear differentiation between giving tiers
- Elimination of identical-benefit levels
- More predictable alignment between support and benefits
Updated Parking and Gameday Access
Alongside the membership-level redesign, SMU is implementing updates to parking and hospitality benefits to better match the value of each tier and improve the overall fan experience.
Key Donor-Facing Changes Include:
- Miller Champions Club and valet parking access for Men's Basketball increasing from the $15,000 level to the $25,000 level, reflecting the growing demand for premium hospitality at Moody Coliseum.
- Reservation of a Main Boulevard tailgating spot will increase from the $2,500 level to the $5,000 level, an adjustment that reflects the growing popularity of one of America's premier tailgating destinations.
- Football parking lots Binkley, Hillcrest, Moody, and Church (previously all accessible at the $1,500 level) will now be distributed across multiple membership tiers.
- The entry membership level will increase from $75 to $100. All members at the $100 membership level will still receive access to the Mustang Club's football gameday tailgate within Armstrong Fieldhouse.
"Our goal is to prioritize clarity, consistency, and the long-term health of Mustang Athletics," said
Alex Gary, Deputy Athletic Director for External Affairs. "These updates reduce complexity and ensure that donor support is recognized in meaningful, easy-to-understand ways."
