SMU Men's Swimming & Diving is set to make its ACC Championships debut beginning on Tuesday and running through Saturday at Greensboro Aquatic Center.

On Wednesday-Saturday, prelims will start each day at 8:30 a.m. CT, while finals will start at 4:30 p.m. Diving prelims will begin immediately following the swimming prelims session on these days.

The exception to start times is Tuesday, when prelims will begin at 9 a.m., while finals will start at 5 p.m.

This marks the first time that the Mustangs will compete at the ACC Championships, joining Cal and Stanford as newcomers to the annual league championships. The ACC is one of the premier swimming and diving conferences in the nation, with 10 programs currently ranked or receiving votes in the CSCAA rankings. During the 2023-24 season, 10 current ACC programs placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships, with all three newcomers placing in the top 20.

SITZ AND INFO
Freshman diver Luke Sitz has already earned a conference-record six ACC Diver of the Week honors on six tries and has earned podium finishes during each of his meets this season. In addition, he has also reached the NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks in each competition this year. In October, he won his third consecutive ACC Diver of the Week honor, making him the second diver to ever win three straight since its inception in 2012 and the first freshman to ever accomplish the feat. Sitz's accomplishments is not limited to SMU, as he also competed at the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships on behalf of the United States during the week of Thanksgiving. The Prosper native posted three top-six finishes, including placing fifth on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized. His collegiate success was foreshadowed last summer when he recorded two top-four finishes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, the highest finisher below the age of 20 on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.

MUSTANGS REACHING NCAA STANDARDS
18 different Mustangs have reached NCAA qualifying standards in at least one event. This was highlighted on night one of the SMU Invite, with the 800 Free Relay team of Jack Hoagland, Jack Forrest, Chris Mykkanen and Harold Lockhart reaching SMU's lone A Cut of the season. This mark qualified all four for the NCAA Championships in events they reached an NCAA Standard in. The mark secures the Mustangs spots in multiple individual events: 100 Free (Lockhart), 200 Free (Mykkanen, Lockhart), 500 Free (Hoagland, Forrest, Lockhart), 1650 Free (Forrest), 400 IM (Hoagland).

IN THE POLLS
SMU currently is receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25 after being as high as 19 this season. The Mustangs also sit at 22 in the SwimSwam Power Rankings.
