The SMU men's swimming & diving program is set to compete at the Texas A&M Last Chance Meet beginning on Thursday and running through Saturday at Rec Center Natatorium.
The meet is the first competition following the Mustangs' inaugural appearance at the ACC Championships and is the first of two last chance meets for SMU, with the other being next Thursday-Saturday at Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.
The two competitions are the final opportunities for swimmers to reach NCAA Championships qualifying marks.
THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
SMU made its first appearance at the ACC Championships last week. Freshman diver
Luke Sitz picked up two medals, and Mustangs swimmers earned 15 new SMU All-Time Top Performances. In addition, the Ponies reached new NCAA 'B' Standards in six different events, building upon their success during the regular season. SMU has now also reached NCAA standards in four of five relay events.
MUSTANGS REACHING NCAA STANDARDS
18 different Mustangs have reached NCAA qualifying standards in at least one event. This was highlighted on night one of the SMU Invite, with the 800 Free Relay team of
Jack Hoagland,
Jack Forrest,
Chris Mykkanen and
Harold Lockhart reaching SMU's lone A Cut of the season.
IN THE POLLS
SMU currently is receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25 after being as high as 19 this season. The Mustangs also sit at 22 in the SwimSwam Power Rankings.
