DALLAS (SMU) – With spring training underway, the SMU women's soccer team released its spring schedule that features five games inside Washburne Stadium.
The Mustangs will play six matches during the spring season, including three Big 12 opponents, to prepare for their second season in the ACC. The home matches are open to the public and admission is free. The complete spring schedule can be found
here.
"We are in the best women's soccer conference in the nation," Head Coach
Nicole Nelson said. We are always looking to play games that will stretch us so we can learn some things about ourselves."
"We have a number of quality opponents with different styles of play, so we will learn some things that we can take back to the training field. They should be competitive games and it should be fun."
SMU added five players to its 2025 roster, all of which are on campus for the spring season. Nelson brought in three experienced transfers (
Claire Jones,
Sydney Japic and
Zoe Parkhurst) and two high-level freshmen (
Lindsay Nicholson and
Julianna Millin) that will bolster a roster that returned 21 players from last season, including
Nyah Rose,
Hali Hartman,
Lydia Ungashick and
Liz Eddy, who were leaders in different statistical categories. More on the 2025 signing class can be found
here.
SMU scored 32 goals last season, the most under Nelson and the most since 2019. On the defensive side, the Mustangs recorded four shutouts during the season and had eight of the team's 10 ACC games decided by one goal or less.
The Mustangs faced nine teams that held a top-25 ranking at least once during the season and seven that were ranked when the teams played. For the first time in Women's College Cup history, the ACC sent four teams to the national semifinals, as the conference had six in the Elite Eight.
