SMU's Participants
Jack Hoagland – 500 Free, 1650 Free, 400 IM
A four-time All-American, Jack Hoagland returns to the NCAA Championships for the final time in his career. The graduate student posted the 14th-fastest time in the NCAA in the 400 IM, recording a 3:40.40 during the SMU Invite, to secure his spot in individual events during the Championships.
Luke Sitz – 1-meter, 3-meter
Freshman Luke Sitz is looking to put an exclamation mark on a phenomenal first collegiate season in Federal Way. Sitz punched his ticket to the meet by winning 3-meter and placing third on 1-meter during the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. The Prosper native also won two medals, silver (3-meter) and bronze (3-meter) at the ACC Championships along with winning six ACC Diver of the Week honors during the regular season, a conference record.
Lance Butler - Relays
Lance Butler is making his second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships in 2025 after being a member of the school record-setting 400 free relay squad last season. This year, Butler helped break two relay school records and advanced to finals in the 100 breast during the ACC Championships.
Jack Forrest – Relays
An honorable mention All-America selection last season, Jack Forrest returns to the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career. Forrest placed seventh at the ACC Championships in the 500 free, the highest placement by a Mustang swimmer at the conference meet, and he also was a member of the school record-setting 800 free relay squad last year.
Harold Lockhart - Relays
Making his NCAA Championships debut with the Mustangs, Harold Lockhart is set to compete on relay teams in Federal Way. During the ACC Championships, he was a part of school-record setting 200 free and 400 medley relay squads along with moving up to second all time in the 100 and 200 free.
Sage Sungail – Relays
Sage Sungail is also making his NCAA Championship debut this week in Federal Way. Sungail scored points for the Mustangs at the ACC Championships and has been a member of multiple conference championship-winning relay squads during his career.
MUSTANGS REACHING NCAA STANDARDS
Nineteen different Mustangs reached NCAA qualifying standards in at least one event this season. This was highlighted on night one of the SMU Invite, with the 800 Free Relay team reaching SMU's lone A Cut of the season. The relay standard gave SMU qualification in all the relays they have reached a B standard in, and Jack Hoagland sat below the cutline in the 400 IM to gain qualification to the NCAA Championships.
THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
SMU made its first appearance at the ACC Championships in February. Freshman diver Luke Sitz picked up two medals, and Mustangs swimmers earned 15 new SMU All-Time Top Performances. In addition, the Ponies reached new NCAA 'B' Standards in six different events, building upon their success during the regular season. SMU also reached more NCAA standards in relay events, giving it qualification marks in four of five relay events.
