DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis is set to host No. 9 Stanford at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex on Friday before hosting No. 10 California and UT Dallas in a doubleheader on Senior Day, Sunday.

The Senior Day doubleheader will be the Mustangs' final home match day of the season.

SMU vs No. 9 STANFORD
  • SMU and Stanford met in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season. The Cardinal won 4-0 in Norman, Oklahoma.
  • The Mustangs have had three meetings with Stanford.
  • The Cardinal have won all three previous meetings.
SMU vs No. 10 CALIFORNIA
  • SMU and Cal have met 15 times and twice in Dallas.
  • This match will be the third meeting between the Mustangs and the Bears in the last three seasons.
  • SMU won the two teams' last meeting 5-2 at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex in 2024.
SMU vs UT Dallas
  • SMU and UT Dallas have faced each other four times, with SMU winning all previous matches.
  • The first meeting between the Mustangs and Comets was in 2021. The two teams have played each other every season since then.
  • SMU won their previous meeting with UTD 6-1 at Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex last season.
SMU at No. 13 DUKE
  • The Mustangs dropped the doubles point in two matches.
  • No. 72 Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov fell to the 62nd-ranked Andreja Petrovic and Cooper Williams (6-3) before Vikas Deo and Xavier Calvelo fell to Pedro Rodenas and Connor Krug (6-3).
  • Duke's Connor Krug defeated Maks Silagy (6-4, 6-2) to win the first singles point of the day and extend the hosts' lead to 2-0.
  • No. 71 Williams defeated Georgiev (6-3, 6-1) on court two before No. 36 Rodenas clinched the match for the hosts with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jerry Barton on court one.
SMU at NORTH CAROLINA
  • The hosts took the first lead on doubles play. Anthony Wright and Diego Jarry defeated Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov (6-2) before Constantinos Djakouris and Nick Mangiapane clinched the point against Vikas Deo and Xavier Calvelo (6-4).
  • The Tar Heels extended their lead to 2-0 in singles as No. 114 Chris Xu won against Shimanov (6-1, 6-2).
  • UNC's Patrick Schoen defeated Jerry Barton (6-2, 6-1) before Jarry clinched it for the hosts with a win over Noah McDonald (6-4, 6-3).
MUSTANGS IN THE RANKINGS
  • SMU was ranked No. 61 in the latest ITA Team Rankings (March 25).
  • Trevor Svajda moved to No. 86 in the singles rankings (March 18).
  • Two Mustang pairs were ranked in doubles, with Svajda and Louis Cloud ranked at No. 45. Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov ranked No. 76.
SERVIN' SVAJDA
  • Svajda was ranked No. 86 in the current ITA singles rankings.
  • He has four wins over ranked opponents this season.
  • He made the quarterfinal round of the San Diego Open last weekend to earn a qualifier wild card to the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. He fell in the first round of the Indian Wells Open.
  • He has wins against three ranked opponents this season.
  • The sophomore joined SMU as the No. 1 tennis recruit in the nation.
  • Svajda was ranked no. 19 at the start of the 2024 fall season and ended the season ranked 48th.
  • Svajda defeated No. 77 ranked Azuma Visaya in the first flight singles on the Mustangs' season-opener at Hawaii.
  • He earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Individual Championship after reaching the semifinal round of the ITA Sectional Championship with a win over Nebraska's Calvin Meuller in the quarterfinals.
  • Svajda earned AAC All-Conference honors (singles) and was named the AAC Freshman of the Year in 2024.
  • Svajda has a 16-7 record in his freshman season with the Mustangs.
  • Svajda earned five singles wins over ranked opponents last season (No. 17, No. 29, No. 35, No. 68, No. 107).
GEORGI "6-0, 6-0" GEORGIEV
  • Georgiev earned his first collegiate ranking at No. 117 on Feb.25 after going undefeated against ranked opponents in the ITA National Indoor Championships.
  • He grabbed back-to-back wins against ranked opponents. He defeated No. 69-ranked Charlelie Cosnet from Kentucky (6-0, 6-3) before defeating No. 117 Patorn Hanchaikul (6-0, 6-3).
  • He has won two matches without dropping a game (6-0, 6-0).
