GUADALAJARA, Mexico (SMU) – Freshman diver
Luke Sitz is set to compete at the first stop of the World Aquatics Diving World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, on behalf of the United States beginning on Thursday and running until Sunday.
Â
Sitz will compete in three events in Mexico during the week. He begins with 3-meter prelims on Thursday, then will compete in a mixed-team event along with Daryn Wright, Tyler Willis and Sophia Verzyl. He concludes with a synchronized event on 3-meter on Sunday, joining Indiana's Josh Sollenberger.
Â
The international competition comes on the heels of his very successful freshman campaign. The Prosper native earned First Team All-America accolades on 1-meter and earned a silver medal on 3-meter and a bronze on 1-meter at the ACC Championships.
Â
In addition, Sitz earned six ACC Diver of the Week honors, a new conference record.
Â
He is no stranger to the international stage, previously competing at the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships on behalf of the United States during the week of Thanksgiving. Sitz posted three top-six finishes, including placing fifth on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
Â
Sitz also recorded two top-four finishes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, the highest finisher below the age of 20 on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
