DALLAS (SMU) – No. 6 SMU Equestrian is set to host a meet against No. 3 South Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 12 p.m. CT at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
The Mustangs competed against the Gamecocks earlier this season, narrowly falling 10-9 on the road on Sept. 26, 2025. Violet Shetler and Madison Rafacz swept the Western MOP honors.
Last time out, SMU defeated No. 7 UC Davis 15-5 at home, extending their winning streak to three. Augusta Iwasaki earned her third consecutive Fences MOP after besting the Aggies' Carmen Gonzalez 88-83. Jayna Lagace scored a 75.5 in Horsemanship to secure the point and the MOP for the Mustangs. Freshman Madison Rafacz took home the Reining MOP after her 69.5-scoring victory over Mya Clader.
Iwasaki is currently second in program history for most career MOPs with 19 and first in active career MOPs. The captain ranks first at SMU for all-time MOPs in Fences with 16. The senior also is tied for the fourth most Fences wins in a single season, earning 12 victories in the 2024-25 season. The Jumping Seat rider has had three consecutive double-digit win seasons.
After the fall season, Violet Shetler is tied for the most Horsemanship MOPs in the NCEA with three. Madison Rafacz leads the team in Reining MOPs with three. SMU has swept the Western MOPs in every meet this season. Continuing their Western dominance, the Mustangs have now earned 23 straight Horsemanship MOPs, dating back to the 2024 season opener against TCU on Sept. 20.
