Mustangs Dominate Dual Meet At Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (SMU) -
 SMU Women's Swimming and Diving won its final dual meet of the season (161-133) at Utah on Saturday.
 
The Mustangs won 11 out of 16 events, sweeping the relay, butterfly, backstroke and sprint freestyle events.
 
Jimena Leal, Maddy Parker, Isabella Krantzcke and Annemarie Vlaic each won multiple individual events.

SMU won the first event of the day when Jimena LealIsabella KrantzckeMaddy Parker and Summer Osborne threw down 1:41.00 in the 200 medley relay to finish first.
 
The Mustangs' relay quartet of Maddie Reynolds, Chloe Corbin, Annemarie Vlaic and Madeleine Hebert took third with a time of 1:43.07.
 
200 free
Summer Osborne won the 200 free by throwing down 1:50.46 while Mustang debutant Chloe Douglas-Byrne followed in runner-up by touching the wall at 1:50.89.
 
Madeleine Hebert finished fourth with a time of 1:52.36 and Karly Boles placed sixth (1:53.55).
 
100 back
Jimena Leal won the 100 back with a time of 55.81 and Maddie Reynolds placed fifth by clocking 57.49.
 
100 breast
Isabella Krantzcke finished runner-up in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.02.
 
200 fly
Annemarie Vlaic claimed the Mustangs' fourth event win of the day in the 200 fly (2:00.71) followed by Cassidy Allison in second place with a time of 2:05.39.
 
Carlotta Scarpitti placed fifth with a time of 2:08.05.
 
50 free
The Mustangs claimed first second and third place in the 50 free with Maddy Parker winning the event (22.86).
 
Chloe Douglas-Byrne clocked a time of 23.42 to place second and Chloe Corbin finished third with a time of 23.79.
 
100 free
Maddy Parker grabbed her second win of the day in the 100 free with a time of 49.66.
 
Summer Osborne placed third by clocking 50.93, Chloe Douglas-Byrne placed fourth with a time of 51.00 and Chloe Corbin came fifth (51.71).
 
200 back
Jimena Leal swept the backstroke events by winning the 200 back with a time of 2:01.64.
 
200 breast
Isabella Krantzcke won the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.27.
 
3-meter
Macey Oppliger placed fourth on 3-meter by scoring 257.40, Sadie Klepfer placed seventh (219.00) and Ava Andersen finished eighth (208.28).
 
500 free
Karly Boles finished runner-up in the 500 free with a time of 5:03.45, Madeleine Hebert placed third (5:04.04) and Maddie Reynolds clocked 5:09.74 to place fourth.
 
100 fly
Annemarie Vlaic also swept the butterfly events by winning the 100 fly with a time of 54.83.
 
Cassidy Allison placed third (56.20) and Jimena Leal placed fifth (56.91).
 
200 IM
Isabella Krantzcke won the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.68.
 
Cassidy Allison clocked 2:06.51 to place third, Carlotta Scarpitti finished sixth by clocking 2:09.84 and Annemarie Vlaic placed eighth (2:13.52).
 
1-meter
Macey Oppliger finished runner-up on 1-meter with 255.30 points, followed by Ava Andersen in third (241.43).
 
Sadie Klepfer placed seventh by scoring 191.18.
 
200 free relay
SMU's relay team of Maddy Parker, Summer Osborne, Madeleine Hebert and Chloe Corbin capped the meet with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:31.60.
 
Cassidy Allison, Karly Boles, Chloe Douglas-Byrne and Maddie Reynolds placed third (1:35.15).
 
What's Next?
The Mustangs will prep for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, scheduled from Feb. 15-21.
