DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Swimming & Diving had a dominant win in the home opener against Oklahoma Christian and Incarnate Word on Friday at Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center on Friday.
The Mustangs took a clean sweep of first place in all 16 events, spotlighted by Luke Sitz and Grant Cates who both qualified for NCAA Zone Cuts on 3-meter and 1-meter. The diver duo has made it to NCAA Zones every season they have competed collegiately.Â

200 Medley Relay In the first event of the meet, the Mustangs' 200 medley relay squads claimed the win along with third. Winning the event was the squad of Jack Berube, Trey Clervi, Aidan Arie and Maks Minichowski with a time of 1:27.01. SMU's team of Andy Baklanov, Braden Guzman, Cameron Thompson and Joshua Heydt by touching the wall at 1:30.84.
1000 Free Mark Van Eybergen with a time of 9:17.85, clinching him the first place spot. Not too far behind, Leo Pelaez completed the event with a time of 9:21.77.
200 Free All-American Francis Brennan makes his return, with a time of 1:34.02. Touching the wall at 1:36.34 is Andy Baklanov. Aubrey Jaya rounded out the top-3 with a time of 1:37.48. Jack Moore swam in an exhibition with a time of 1:39.49.
100 Back Back for his senior year, Jack Berube won 100 back with a time of 47.52. Asher Good followed Berube in, touching the wall at 49.45. Ethan Hammontree finished fifth with a 50.71.
100 Breast Transfer Maks Minichowski clinched the top spot for the Mustangs, touching the wall at 54.24. Kristaps Mikelsons followed not too far behind in second with a time of 54.78. To round out the top-3 is Trey Clervi, with a time of 54.86. Braden Guzman swam in an exhibition with a time of 56.85.
200 Fly The Mustangs finished top-3 in 200 fly. For his first competition on the Hilltop, Tate Bacon touched the wall first at 1:47.23. Zach Power and Aidan Arie came in not too far behind in second and third places, respectively. Power with a time of 1:48.22 and Arie 1:48.51. Ben Longeway swam in an exhibition with a time of 1:49.29.
50 Free George Gonzalez earned a first place finish with a 20.08. Benjamin Chateigner came in third, touching the wall at 20.60. Right behind him in fourth, Eli Likins finished with a time of 20.78. Joshua Heydt had an exhibition time of 20.94.
1-Meter Diving Luke Sitz clinched first place with a final score of 345.83. In second place is Grant Cates with a final score of 318.83. Sitz and Cates both punch a ticket to NCAA Zones.
