Day One Results

DALLAS (SMU) – No. 21 SMU Men's Swimming & Diving finished day one in fourth, with Luke Sitz claiming first on 1-meter with a score of 358.35 at RObson and Lindley Aquatics Center on Oct. 9.

Other podium finishes include Francis Brennan who placed second in the 200 free A final and senior Jack Berube finished the 100 back A final in third place.

The Mustangs relay team of Brennan, Aubrey Jaya, Andy Baklanov and Berube finished the day with a third place finish in the 800 free relay.

Notable Results:
400 IM
Andy Baklanov finished second in the A final and overall, touching the wall at 3:45.42. In the B final, Kristaps Mikelsons finished third with a time of 3:57.88.

200 Free:
Sophomore Francis Brennan touched the wall at 1:33.72, finishing in second. Aubrey Jaya finished second in the B final, with a time of 1:36.29.

50 Free:
Within the A final, Tate Bacon slammed down a time of 20.18 and finished fifth. Miami native, George Gonzalez finished with a time of 19.99 in the B final.

1-Meter Diving:
Luke Sitz took first place in the only men's diving event today with a score of 358.35.

100 Fly:
Bacon and Gonzalez competed in two consecutive events. Bacon touched the wall at 47.72 in the A final, while Gonzalez finished with a time of 50.25 in the B final.

100 Back:
Jack Berube touched the wall at a time of 46.51, finishing third. Baklanov finished with a time of 47.63, coming in third in the B final.

100 Breast:
Mikelsons finished with a time of 53.83 in the A final. Senior Maks Minichowski won the B final with a time of 53.30.

800 Free Relay:
The Mustangs relay team of Brennan, Jaya, Baklanov and Berube finished the day with a third place finish and a total time of 6:24.84.

The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 10, to finish the last 16 events of the SMU Classic at 10am.
