DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Men's Tennis wrapped up the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Meethre Barot and Vikas Deo highlighted the home tournament by winning the doubles title. They defeated Tulsa's Alvaro Ariel Frutos Alonso and Ruben Fernandez Ruiz (7-5) in the championship round.

The SMU pair defeated UIW's Santiago Flyckt and Ian Uraga (7-6(2)) in the round of 16, UTA's Seifelden Mostafa Samih and Filip Avdeev (6-1) in the quarterfinals and UTSA's Gabriel Jalouneix and Joel Hansson (7-6(1)) in the semifinals.

"What a special weekend at home. We have put in a lot of hard hours and made adjustments to get better each day. Thanks to the coaches for helping us daily," said Barot after his tournament run.

"This is my senior year, and I want to leave it all out there on the court. Vikas kept on getting better with each match, and we stuck with our game plan (to win it)."

In singles, Noah McDonald grabbed a pair of wins over UTSA's Victor Alvares De Castro Rocha (7-6(2), 6-4) and Texas Tech's Miguel Angel Machado (2-6, 6-3, 10-8).

Freshman Luis Flores defeated Texas Tech's Joseph Patton (6-4, 6-4) for his sixth victory as a Mustang in his third tournament.

"We got better this weekend. The Stangs got a lot of matches in and really managed to stay on the court and compete," said Head Coach Grant Chen.

"Luis continues to make huge strides this semester in his first season of college tennis and Meethre and Vikas were definitely a high note as they captured the doubles title."
