Georgi Georgiev has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Georgiev went 2-0 against two ranked opponents this past weekend. He was crucial in the Mustangs' 3-0 weekend sweep and 2-0 ACC weekend.
The Svilengrad, Bulgaria, native clinched SMU's win against UNC and posted a straight set win against Duke.
He defeated No. 123 Planelles Ripoll in the Mustangs' win over No. 43 Duke before posting his highest ranked win of the season against No. 82 Ian Mayew to clinch SMU's win over No. 57 North Carolina.
Georgiev is undefeated in his last eight singles matches with a 10-2 record. With
Vikas Deo, Georgiev has won six doubles matches in a row; they are undefeated in the last eight matches and have a 7-1 record.
