SMU Falls Short 4-3 Against Miami

DALLAS (SMU) – No. 29 SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-3 to No. 54 Miami at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday.
 
The Mustangs dropped the first point of the day despite winning court three in doubles play. The two teams split the singles contest 3-3 as the Hurricanes clinching the match on court four with a 7-5 tiebreaker clincher in the third set.
 
SMU scored points from singles wins by Trevor Svajda, Georgi Georgiev and Krish Arora.
 
Georgiev and Vikas Deo are 9-2 as a doubles pair this season, following their doubles win today.
 
Svajda won his seventh ranked win of the spring to improve his singles record to 16-1, matching his single-season high of singles wins. He is on a seven-match winning streak.
 
Georgiev improved his singles record to 13-3 in singles play, while Arora grabbed his 10th singles win of the season.
 
The Mustangs are 4-3 in ACC play and 14-8 overall as they prepare to face No. 47 Florida State at home on Sunday.
 
How it Went
Despite a court three win from Georgi Georgiev and Vikas Deo (6-3), Miami grabbed the doubles point by winning courts one and two.
 
The visitors extended their lead by winning court two of singles play as Nacho Serra Sanchez defeated No. 102 Alex Finkelstein (6-3, 6-2).
 
No. 1 Trevor Svajda puts the Mustangs on the board by defeating No. 113 Antonio Prat (6-1, 7-6(13)) on court one. The match's second-set tiebreaker saw nine duece points as Svajda scored 15 to grab the win.
 
Miami's Jules Garot defeats Noah McDonald (6-2, 7-6(5)) on court six to make it 3-1 for the visitors, but SMU responded promptly as Georgi Georgiev won against Jakub Kroslak (6-4, 1-6, 6-3) on court three.
 
Krish Arora ties it at 3-3 for the Mustangs by defeating Mehdi Sadaoui (7-5, 2-6, 6-4) on court five.
 
Jerry Barton fell 7-5 in a third-set tiebreaker to Rafael Segado on court four. Miami clinched the match 4-3.
