DALLAS (SMU) – No. 32 SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-2 to No. 18 Notre Dame at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday.
 
The Mustangs dropped a close doubles battle in a tiebreaker clincher. Notre Dame then edged SMU in singles play by winning three courts to the hosts' two.
 
Georgi Georgiev and Jerry Barton each won their singles matches. Georgiev improved to 14-3 in singles play and is undefeated in his last five matches.
 
Trevor Svajda's match against the No. 13-ranked Sebastian Dominko was marked as unfinished in the third set. The junior continues his nine-match unbeaten streak.
 
The Mustangs are now 15-9 overall and 5-4 in ACC play as they prepare to face No. 53 Louisville on Sunday.
 
How it Went
The Mustangs dropped the first point in a tight doubles battle that was decided in a tiebreaker on court one.
 
Jerry Barton and Trevor Svajda defeated Sebastian Dominko and Perry Gregg on court two (6-4) but Notre Dame evened the score by winning court three.
 
In a close match that reached the tiebreaker, Alex Finkelstein and Krish Arora fell to No. 53 Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad (7-6(2)).
 
Georgi Georgiev was dominant in singles play, defeating Giuseppe Cerasulo (6-2, 6-0) on court three to even the scoreline at 1-1.
 
Notre Dame took back the lead as Peter Nad defeated Arora (6-4, 6-1) on court four.
 
Barton evened the scoreline again from court five by defeating Kyran Magimay in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
 
The visitors took the lead again with a win on court six before clinching the match at 4-2 by winning court two.
 
Noah McDonald fell to Luis Llorens Saracho on court six (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) before No. 92 Perry Gregg clinched the match by defeating No. 102 Finkelstein (7-6(4), 6-4) on court two.
