DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis won 4-3 against No. 57 UNC before taking down Cleveland State 4-0 at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Sunday.
The Mustangs took the doubles point by winning courts two and three against UNC before winning three singles matches in a thriller that saw all nine matches conclude.
In the afternoon, SMU took down Cleveland State 4-0. Tight doubles matches that saw a tiebreaker clincher were followed by three singles wins by the Mustangs on courts two, four and five.
Georgi Georgiev clinched the match against UNC, grabbing his highest-ranked win of the season against No. 82 Ian Mayew.
Trevor Svajda and
Jerry Barton extended their unbeaten run with a 6-0 record as a doubles pair.
Svajda improved his singles record to 12-1 while Barton improved his to 11-2.
SMU is now 3-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play and 12-6 overall. The Mustangs have won more ACC matches than in the 2025 season.

In another split doubles matchup, SMU took the edge with dominant performances on courts two and three.
Alex Finkelstein and
Krish Arora dropped their match on court one against Roan Jones and Anthony Wright (6-2).
Trevor Svajda and
Jerry Barton remained undefeated by winning their match on court two over Chris Xu and Nick Mangiapane (6-3).
Georgi Georgiev and
Vikas Deo clinched their second consecutive doubles point with a 6-3 win on court three over Ian Mayew and Kase Schinnerer.
Finkelstein dropped his match (6-2, 6-4) on court two for UNC to tie the match at 1-1 but Svajda responded by winning his match on court one in straight sets over Chris Xu (6-2, 6-4).
The Mustangs dropped their matches on courts five and six to trail 3-2 to the visitors.
Barton signaled the Mustangs' bounce back on court four by winning his grueling three-set match against Constantine Djakouris (6-2, 3-6, 6-2).
Goergiev clinched the match for SMU at 4-3 with a three-set win on court two against No. 82 Ian Mayew (7-5, 4-6, 6-2).

SMU dropped the doubles match on court one but came back with a win from Svajda and Jerry on court two (7-5).
Meethre Barot and Deo won their match on court three on a tiebreaker 7-6(3) to win the doubles point over Devin Boyer and Tristan Stine.
Deo kept his winning form in singles by winning his court five match against Maxime Aremon 6-1, 6-3.
Arora extended the Mustangs' lead to 3-0 with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Carl Gedlitschka on court two before
