Svajda Earns First Team All-ACC Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (SMU/ACC) — SMU Men's Tennis junior Trevor Svajda has been named in the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Singles First Team as announced by the conference on Thursday.

The California native has a 21-2 singles record at line one singles with nine ranked wins this spring. He is 32-5 with a total of 17 ranked wins through the fall and spring.

With 32 singles wins this season, Svajda is fourth in program history in single-season singles wins behind Ignacio Hirigoyen (34) in 1999 and Toby Hansson (33) in 2000.

The junior was ranked the No. 1 college singles player in the nation by the ITA four times this season, tied for the most by a single player (Dylan Dietrich, UVA). He earned three ACC Player of the Week honors and was named the 2026 Hurd Award Finalist.

Svajda placed runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship in the fall, becoming the first Mustang to reach an NCAA singles championship match since Richey Reneberg in 1986. He is the first Mustang to earn All-America honors and reach the round of 16 in the tournament in 21 years — Johan Brunstrom was the last Mustang to achieve this in 2004.

On top of his accolades on the college scene, Svajda was also active in the pro tour this season, earning wild card invites to the ATP 500 Nexo Dallas Open and the ATP 1000 BNP Paribas Open. He won his match against Luca Nardi (ATP 135) at Indian Wells to become the first Mustang to win an ATP 1000-level singles match since Richey Reneberg at the ATP Masters 1000 Canada in 1999.

This is Svajda's second postseason All-ACC honor since SMU joined the league in 2024. He was named in the All-ACC Singles Third Team last season.

The Mustangs closed their regular season with a 19-10 overall record and an 8-5 conference record. They were tied for fifth in the final ACC standings and recorded two top-25 wins, including a victory at No. 8 Baylor, their first against the Bears since 2001 and their first in Waco, Texas, since 1996.
