Svajda Selected To Compete At US Open American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff

ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU/USTA) – SMU Men's Tennis junior Trevor Svajda was selected to compete at the US Open American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff on June 16-18, as announced by the United States Tennis Association on Monday.

Svajda earned a spot in the men's singles wild card playoff after placing runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship. The winner of the four-player men's singles playoff will earn a US Open main draw singles wild card, while the finalist will earn a US Open qualifying wild card.

The full player fields will be selected on Wednesday, May 27. Player selections will be determined by a committee made up of USTA staff, college tennis coaches and an ITA representative. This season's American NCAA singles and doubles champions and finalists earned automatic entry on both sides: men's singles champion Michael Zheng (Columbia) and finalist Svajda (SMU); women's singles champion Reese Brantmeier (North Carolina); and men's doubles finalists Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico (Ohio State).

All matches will be played at the USTA National Campus' Collegiate Center each night of the event (Tuesday–Thursday), with start times to be confirmed. Admission is free. Cracked Racquets will provide streaming coverage.

Svajda played in the first American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff in the doubles bracket last year with Louis Cloud.

On the ATP Tour, Svajda is currently ranked No. 393 in the world and reached a high of 358 in February. He notably earned a match win at the ATP 1000 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Qualifiers in March.

The San Diego native had a stellar spring season following his NCAA Singles Championship runner-up run—closed the 2026 spring season with a 21-3 singles record including nine ranked wins. He was named UTR Hurd Award Finalist, All-ACC Singles First Team, three-time ACC Player of the Week and was ranked No. 1 singles player in the nation by the ITA four times.
