Will Sides and
Ben Steinmann were selected to the NCAA Bryan Regional as individuals. The tournament is slated for May 18-20 at Traditions Country Club.
Sides is ranked No. 7 in the country by the Scoreboard rankings powered by Clipp'd. He has won three times this season, one off the program record. He started the year with a win at the Stephens Cup, before spring wins at the Pauma Valley Invite and the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. He currently holds the SMU record for lowest scoring season with a 69.56 average, .44 better than next closest season. He set the SMU record for most rounds of par or better in a season with 26, he's coupled that record with 18 rounds in the 60s. He had six top five finishes on the season including at the ACC Championship. Over his career, he has average 71.09 strokes, just 0.05 off the program record of Noah Goodwin.
Ben Steinmann has put together one of the best freshman seasons in Mustang history. He won a tournament title at the Desimone Invitational. The Swiss native shot 65 in the middle round, good for seven under par. He comes into the regional with a 71.91 scoring average, the second best by a freshman at SMU. He added another top five finish at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial.
The pair of Mustangs make the trip to the Brazos Valley for the regional on May 18-20.
