DALLAS (SMU) — SMU Men's Tennis Associate Head Coach
Ben Johnson was named head men's tennis coach at Yale on Friday.
Johnson joined the Mustangs as an assistant coach in 2017 with Carl Neufeld. He was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2018-19 season and has worked alongside Head Coach
Grant Chen for eight seasons.
"I am so happy for Coach Ben and the Johnson family as they start a new chapter in New Haven as the Yale Men's Tennis Head Coach," said Chen.
"Ben has been absolutely instrumental to SMU these past nine seasons on The Hilltop and has been a tremendous colleague and friend to me. We are excited to see Yale and follow their season. We wish nothing but success for the Johnson Family."
With Johnson second in command, the Mustangs have won two conference championships and made five NCAA tournament appearances. He is a crucial part in SMU's transition to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
