TEMPE, Ariz. (ITA/SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis junior
Trevor Svajda was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Player To Watch as announced by the association on Tuesday.
Svajda earned the honor following a decorated 2025-26 season. He earned two All-America honors after reaching the NCAA Singles Championship round of 16 and being ranked No. 4 in the final ITA singles rankings.
The California native was ranked No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings four times this season. He stayed in the top five of the rankings all spring, with a 21-3 singles record in dual play—including nine ranked wins.
This award adds to Svajda's multiple awards in the 2025-26 season. He won two All-America honors, was named the UTR Hurd Award Finalist, All-ACC First Team Singles and is a three-time ACC Player of the Week.
The junior finished the season with a 32-6 record through the fall and spring, including 16 ranked wins. He is fourth all-time in program history in single-season singles wins with 32.
In the pro tour, Svajda won a qualifiers match at the ATP1000 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells defeating Luca Nardi (ATP 135) for his career highest ranked win. He became the first Mustang to win an ATP 1000 level singles match since Richey Reneberg in 1999.
Recently, Svajda was selected to compete in the American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff in Orlando, Florida, on June 16-18. The winner of the four-player men's singles playoff will earn a US Open main draw singles wild card, while the finalist will earn a US Open qualifying wild card.
Svajda will take on Ohio State's Aidan Kim at 5:30pm CT on Tuesday.
