GREENWOOD, Ind. (CSC/SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis junior
Trevor Svajda was named College Sports Communicators Academic Second Team All-American on Wednesday.
Svajda boasts a GPA of 3.57 while pursuing a degree in Sport Management. He was among the four Mustangs that earned CSC Academic All-District honors last month.
A decorated season for the junior, Svajda earned ITA All-American status as a singles player, finishing in the Top 20 of the Final ITA Singles Rankings in May. It was his second All-America honor of the season.
Svajda earned his first All-America honor after reaching the round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championship this fall, becoming SMU's first All-American since 2004. He placed runner-up in the tournament, becoming the first Mustang to reach the championship match since Richey Reneberg in 1986.
On top of the two All-America honors, he had multiple more awards in the 2025-26 season, being named the UTR Hurd Award Finalist, All-ACC First Team Singles, three-time ACC Player of the Week and being ranked No.1 in the ITA singles rankings four times.
The California native finished the season with a 32-6 record, including 16 ranked wins. He is fourth all-time in program history in single-season singles wins with 32.
Svajda is also ranked No. 56 in the final ITA doubles rankings with
Jerry Barton, while SMU finished the season ranked No. 29 in the final ITA team rankings. This is SMU's highest team ranking since 2022.
Recently, Svajda was selected to compete in the American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff in Orlando, Florida, on June 16-18. The winner of the four-player men's singles playoff will earn a US Open main draw singles wild card, while the finalist will earn a US Open qualifying wild card.
