KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU/NABC) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced SMU as one of its 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award recipients and three Mustangs were named to the NABC Honors Court on Wednesday. This is the second straight team honor for SMU.
The team earned this recognition by completing the 2025-26 year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Jaron Pierre Jr., who was selected in the NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, as well as
Niccolo Kalischer-Stork and
Mitchell Holmes all secured spots on the NABC Honors Court. To achieve this, each student-athlete had to finish the 2025-26 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The Mustangs enter their third season under Head Coach
Andy Enfield boasting one of the nation's top transfer classes, ranked No. 9 nationally and third in the ACC by On3. Last season, SMU reached its first NCAA Tournament since 2017, earned a pair of top-25 wins, and appeared in both the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll for the first time in nine seasons. The Mustangs also tied for the ACC lead with three All-ACC selections and finished among the nation's top 30 in scoring, assists, field-goal percentage and three-point percentage. The 2026-27 schedule features marquee non-conference matchups against Oklahoma, DePaul and UNLV before an 18-game ACC slate, with the ACC Tournament held March 9-13 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Season tickets for the 2026-27 campaign are on sale, with the renewal deadline set for Friday, July 31. Following the renewal deadline, season-ticket holders interested in upgrading their location will be invited to participate in a seat-selection process based on the Mustang Club Priority Point system. Prices for the 2026-27 season are inclusive of ticket fees, and payment plans are available.
