PERSONAL: Sands hails from Auburn, California where she rowed with Capital Crew. She won a silver medal at the 2025 Southwest Regional Championships in the Women's 4+. Sands was selected to the 2024 US Rowing Development Camp and in 2023 was selected as the V8+ and 2v8+ alternate and team manager.
 
FROM THE COACH: Megan comes from a strong foundation and will be a great addition with her incredible character," said head coach Chase Graham. "She will feed into our teams positive culture, make boats go fast, and is committed to excellence."
 
CHOOSING SMU: Sands is counting down the days until she will be on the Hilltop. She believes SMU offers the perfect blend of a picturesque campus and a close-knit community with a big heart. She feels being in Dallas, SMU is the ideal place for her to pursue her passion for journalism and sports management. She's also incredibly excited to be part of Coach Graham's vision and work with an amazing, diverse coaching staff—including an alumna whose journey inspires her. She can't wait to contribute, grow, and represent the Mustang spirit both on and off the water.
