2021-22 (Junior): Played in 20 games, averaging 6.0 minutes per game…Scored a season-high four points at Wichita State (2/12)…Had 10 points for the season…Grabbed 13 rebounds, and also had eight assists and seven steals.

2020-21 (Sophomore): Played in three games with one start…Averaged 13.9 minutes per game…Scored 11 points with four rebounds…Also had one assists and one steal…… Season was canceled after six games due to concerns regarding Covid-19.

2019-20 (Freshman): Played in 15 games, averaging 11.7 minutes…Missed time due to injury…Scored a season-high 13 points in the conference tournament against Memphis (3/6)…Grabbed 15 rebounds, with three against Houston (2/22)…Tallied 11 assists and 10 steals.

Desirae Mathis, a 5-8 standout at University High School in Waco, averaged 15.5 points as a senior. She was named district MVP, selected to the all-district first team and earned academic all-district accolades. Mathis was an honor roll student all four years.

“Desirae Mathis is a scoring guard that has all the success habits that will make her a valuable addition to the SMU women’s basketball program,” Travis Mays explained. “She is a leader on and off the court. Her multi-faceted skillset will make her an immediate impact player for our team. Her enthusiasm for the game is contagious and we are excited to welcome Desirae and her family to the Mustang family!”
