DALLAS (SMU) (March 10, 2022) - Ben Bahr was named Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for SMU Volleyball, Head Coach
Sam Erger announced on Friday. Bahr arrives on the Hilltop after two seasons as technical coordinator at Baylor.
"I am really looking forward to continuing working with Ben," Erger said. "He has an expansive skill set from his Big XII and Big Ten experience that is going to help elevate SMU volleyball in many areas. Most importantly, Ben has a heart of gold and his work ethic is only outdone by his character."
At Baylor, his duties included video analysis, managing data volley and statistical programs in both practice and games, and creating scouting breakdowns of upcoming opponents.
In February of 2020, Bahr served as technical coordinator for the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts. He spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as a volunteer video analyst at the University of Iowa.
Bahr also has coaching experience at the juniors level, both as a head coach and an assistant across multiple teams based out of his home state of Iowa. He graduated from Iowa with a degree in sports and recreation management.
"I am thrilled to get to join Sam on her journey to Dallas," Bahr said. "I have been inspired by her in our work together previously, and I'm really looking forward to getting to work together with her again. In hearing about her vision for SMU, along with the incredible staff already in place here, the potential of this program is unbelievable."
