DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU soccer standouts Ramon Nunez and Kevin Hudson were selected in the 2003 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, which was held today in Charlotte, N.C. The Dallas Burn took Nunez sixth overall, while D.C. United selected Hudson with the fourth selection of the fifth round, 54th overall.
This marks the third straight year an SMU players has been selected, as Diego Walsh was picked by the Columbus Crew with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2002 SuperDraft and Luchi Gonzalez was the No. 6 overall selection in 2001 by the San Jose Earthquakes.
Nunez, who played just one season at SMU, led the Ponies with 18 points last season on four goals and 10 assists. Hudson, an Academic All-American, was fourth on the squad in points with 12 on five goals and two assists.
