PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) - For the second-straight week Bryce Klein was named the top diver by the American Athletic Conference, while newcomer Lucas Schenke earned the first swimming honors of his career, league officials announced on Tuesday. This gives the Mustangs six of the eight weekly honors presented to men's swimmers and divers for the 2015-16 season.

Schenke, a freshman from Hamburg, Germany, won a pair of events in the Mustangs' dual at LSU over the weekend, posting career-best times in both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles. In the 1,000 (9:33.56), Schenke holds the third fastest time in The American, while his 500 (4:28.27) time is fourth. For his efforts, he was also named CollegeSwimming.com's AAC Swimmer of the Week.

In his first season competing in short course, Schenke has competed in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle as well, and is a part of the Mustangs' 400-meter freestyle relay.

Southlake, Texas, native Klein earned himself back-to-back honors with his 1-meter victory against the Tigers on Saturday. He also continued to post NCAA Zone qualifying scores, with a 363.60 in the 1-meter and a 341.70 in the 3-meter.

In his second season of competition, Klein has already achieved all-conference accolades in both the 1- and 3-meter, and placed fifth in both events at the 2014 NCAA Zone D Championship.

SMU returns to the pool for the three-day Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M University Nov. 19-21. Event finals will be broadcast on the SEC Network + each evening starting at 6 p.m. CT.
