BUDAPEST, Hungary (SMU) - Former SMU swimmer Sara Nordenstam took silver in the 200m breaststroke at the European Championships Friday. The Norwegian posted a time of 2:24.42, just 0.92 behind the winner. Nordenstam placed sixth in 400m IM with a time of 4:43. On Saturday, she will swim in heats for the 50m breast and 200m fly. Nordenstam also competed in the 100m breaststroke.
Mustang newcomer Nina Rangelova also competed, swimming for her native Bulgaria. Rangelova placed 10th in the 200m free and 15th in the 100m free. A member of the Bulgarian National Team, Rangelova represented her country at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Other current and former Mustangs competing at the European Championships are Monika Babok (50m fly, 50m free, 100m free), Anja Carman (100m back, 200m back), Raminta Dvariskyte (50m breast, 100m breast, 200m breast) and Denisa Smolenova (50m fly, 100m fly, and 200m fly).
