Garry Weber End Zone Complex
A $50 million commitment from the Garry Weber Foundation, established by former Mustang football letterman Garry A. Weber ’58, is the largest gift in the history of SMU Athletics and served as the lead gift for the new $100M, 192,500-square-foot Garry Weber End Zone Complex at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Â
Anchoring Ford Stadium’s south bowl and connecting its existing east and west gate entries, the Weber End Zone Complex increases the functionality, efficiency and overall experience of Mustang football for student-athletes and fans.
Â
With over 192,000 square feet across three levels of public and private spaces, the new complex supports SMU’s 484 student-athletes and houses team coaches, staff and recruiting services. Additionally, the new complex offers fans and visitors premium experiences, improved pedestrian accessibility and expanded guest facilities.
Â
ARMSTRONG FOOTBALL CENTER
Encompassing the first and third levels of the Garry Weber End Zone Complex. The Armstrong Football Center – named after generous donors Bill Armstrong ’82 and Liz Martin Armstrong ’82 and The Armstrong Foundation – house the primary sport performance and administrative spaces of the Weber End Zone Complex. The first floor includes the weight room, locker room, players lounge, rehabilitation and sports medicine center. The third floor features the Joe and Sherry Beard Letterwinners Lounge – a premium gameday experience reserved for former letterwinners – the Shaddock Team Auditorium, the Lockton Family Boardroom as well as all coaches’ offices and five mini suites for use on gameday.
Â
HOSPITALITY LEVEL
Encompassing the second floor of the Weber End Zone Complex, the hospitality level serves as the primary dining and entertainment space for student-athletes and gameday patrons. From the facility’s on-site kitchen, nutritious, fresh-made meals for all 17 varsity programs are prepared five days per week in the Flanagan Family Training Table. On gamedays, the facility’s 1,200 club seat holders will enter the Ware West Atrium or the Fox Family East Lobby for the newest premium gameday experience available at Ford Stadium. The 600-seat grandstand offers three types of seating, and patrons can gather at the Fleeger Family West Patio for a refreshing beverage.
Â
HUMAN PERFORMANCE LEVEL
At field level, an 18,000 square foot weight room, hydrotherapy and sports medicine area as well as the locker room and players lounge serves as the primary area for the football team to train, recover and relax. The Gotovac Family Cardio Mezzanine overlooks the weightroom, providing an observation area for the space below. The team will take the field through the Ewing Family Team Tunnel for each of SMU’s home games.
Naming opportunities from $25,000 to $15 million still exist for generous donors to the facility. Visit smu.edu/weber, call 214-768-2582 or email Josh Whittenburg, Associate AD for Development at jwhittenburg@smu.edu for more information.
