Midland, Texas -- SMU diver Brice Dumais won the national championship title in the three-meter synchronized diving event held on Saturday at the U.S. Diving Nationals in Midland, Texas. Dumais and his diving partner, Phil Jones (Indianapolis, Ind.), scored 299.91 points, while edging out Dumais' older brothers, Justin and Troy (292.26 points), for the title.
Dumais, a native of Ventura, Calif., the 2001 National Independant Conference Diver of the Year, won his last five of the six conference events. He qualified for the NCAA championship meet the last two years. As a freshman, Dumais was selected the WAC Newcomer of the Year as well as the WAC Diver of the Year.
