SMU men's diver Brice Dumais earned All-American honors Thursday at the 2003 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, finishing tenth in the one-meter competition. Dumais, a senior from Ventura, Calif., posted a score of 293.75 in the springboard event. After day one, the SMU men's swimming & diving team is in 22nd place. Auburn is leading the event entering Friday.
SMU sprinter Jonathon Newton finished tied for 24th in the 50 free with a time of 19.95. Freshman diver Philip Griffin rounded out the SMU contingent in Austin with a score of 261.60 in the one-meter placing him 28th overall in the one-meter competition.
The championships continue Friday with prelims beginning at 11:00 a.m. and finals set to take place at 7:00 p.m.
