DALLAS (SMU) --- SMU had a pair of freshmen combine for 24 kills, 24 digs, and three blocks in a 3-1 (30-27, 26-30, 30-24, 30-28) loss to Tulsa Saturday at Moody Coliseum. Caitlin Rainbird led the newcomers with 16 kills and Rachel Giubilato topped the group with 19 digs.

Senior Beth Karasek continued her outstanding play for the Mustangs (9-12, 3-8 WAC) with 24 kills and 16 digs. She also had two blocks and three aces in the match. It was Karasek?s third straight 20-plus kill match. Junior setter Jessica Mihm covered all the categories with 49 assists, 14 digs, seven kills, two blocks and an ace against Tulsa (15-8, 4-7 WAC).

Senior Jackie Erazmus tied her four-game career high as she led SMU with 21 digs. Junior Ashley Zener had a team-high four blocks to go along with eight kills, three digs, and a pair of assists.

The Mustangs next match is against Sam Houston State at Moody Coliseum Wednesday November 3 at 7:00 p.m.
