DALLAS (SMU) - Kenzie Cole, a 5-8 guard, will become a member of the SMU women?s basketball team this fall, as announced by SMU head coach Rhonda Rompola on Tuesday. Cole (Brock, Texas) comes to SMU via Oklahoma State and will sit out the 2004-05 season, as stipulated by the NCAA transfer regulations. She will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Cole played in 27 games for the Cowgirls last season, making one start. She averaged over 17 minutes of playing time per game. Cole also averaged 3.0 points, 1.4 rebounds, and collected 21 steals and 32 assists during the 2003-04 season.
Prior to Oklahoma State, Cole attended Brock High School, averaging 13 points, five rebounds and five assists as a senior. She closed out her high school career with 2,334 points and 762 assists. Cole led Brock to two state titles and a runner-up finish in her four seasons. A four-time All-State Tournament team selection, she earned MVP honors in 2002 and 2003. She was also a four-time All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, Texas Girls Coaches Association, and the Texas Sportswriters? Association.
