DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team shut out Texas Southern, 7-0, today at the Haggar Tennis Stadium on the campus of SMU. The Mustangs are now 2-0 for the season.

Federico Murgier defended the Mustangs at the No. 1 spot and defeated Ivan Avila, 6-2, 6-2. After falling in the first set, Henrik Soderberg was able to overcome Frank Suaerz , 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. At the No. 6 position, Yeugen Ryeznik downed Richard Vo, 7-5, 6-4

The Mustangs competed at all positions today, bouncing back after a late night of competition with UALR. SMU handed UALR their first loss of the season yesterday as the Ponies won, 5-2.

"I thought it was a great weekend," said head coach Carl Neufeld. "Saturdays match was tough because we played till 10 at night but I thought our guys bounced back nicely and played very well for it being only 14 hours later."

The Mustangs return to play Feb. 3, as they host Lamar at 2 p.m.
