DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team extended their winning streak today as they swept Denver, 7-0. The Mustangs have also kept their slate clean with points as UALR has been the only team to post any points against the Mustangs. SMU is now 8-0 on the season, the best start since the 2000-01 season when the Mustangs posted 10 wins.

Finishing first, the No. 2 and No. 3 duos defeated their opponents 8-4. Peter Oredsson and Oivind Alver represented SMU at No. 2 and Henrik Soderberg and Federico Murgier paired for the win at No. 3. With the doubles point already won, the duo of Alex Skrypko and David Kuczer put up a fight at the No. 1 singles spot as they held strong and came out with the 9-8 win.

The Mustangs were also well represented in singles action as every Mustang tallied a victory. At the No. 1 singles, Oredsson defeated Adam Holmstrom in the first set and after losing the second set, rallied to take the win, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. At No. 2, Murgier put away Nejc Smole, 6-3, 6-1 and Skrypko competed at the No. 3 position for a win against Niklas Persson, 6-0, 6-1.

Kuczer outlasted Viktor Zetterholm, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Soderberg smashed Steve Flaks, 7-6, 6-4 which Alver picked up a win against Aljosa Nipic, 6-4, 6-2.

The Mustangs return to the courts Sat., March 4 against Virginia Tech and Sun., March 5 against Virginia Commonwealth. Both matches are at Richmond, Virginia and slated to begin at 10 a.m.
