DALLAS (SMU) - #60 SMU defeated #75 Memphis in the Mustang's first conference match-up of the season, 5-1. The Mustangs improve to 12-5 on the season and 1-0 in C-USA play as Memphis falls to 7-11 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

There were only singles action this afternoon with the looming chance of rain. At the No. 1 spot, #56 Peter Oredsson recorded his 10th win at No. 1 as he defeated Sam Withell, 6-2, 6-2. No. 2, Federico Murgier fell in his first set, but stayed strong to win the last two sets over James Spence, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Alex Skrypko notched a win over Michael Jetter, 6-1, 6-2, as Henrik Soderberg was not able to overcome Matt Brewer, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4. David Kuczer added another Mustang win by defeating Tezar Putra, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 while Oivind Alver prevailed over Pilant Garrison, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6.

The Mustangs return to the courts tomorrow as the face #71 Army at noon. Army is 2-10 on the season as they are led by John Houghton who is 9-6 at the No. 1 singles and Carl Fisher who is even at 6-6 in the No. 1 slot. The duo of Fisher and Houghton pair for a 5-6 record at No. 1 doubles.
