West Point, Miss. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team will enter Wednesday's final round of the 2006 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship just four shots out of the lead after recording a team 291 in the second round at the par 72, 7,000-yard course at Old Waverly Golf Club. SMU stands in third at 569 and is just four strokes back of co-leaders Memphis and Houston (565).
Will Dodson fired a second-round 68 to move into a first place tie with UCF's Sonny Nimkhum at 6-under 138. Colt Knost, who was tied for the lead after round one, slipped to fifth at 141 after shooting a 75 in round two. Brandon DeStefano also stands in the top 20, ranking 19th at 144. Scott Sikes is tied for 23rd at 146, while Wes Homan rounds out the SMU group at 148 and is tied for 33rd.
