DALLAS (SMU) - Junior defender Carley Phillips and senior forward/midfielder Kimber Bailey were named second-team All-Conference USA Tuesday. A third Mustang also was honored, when forward Lauren Shepherd was named to the conference All-Freshman team.
Bailey finished her career as one of the most prolific scorers in SMU history. She scored a goal in each of her last two games, giving her four this season and a career total of 40 -- passing former SMU star Olivia O'Rear for sixth place in school history. She led the Mustangs in scoring in three of her four seasons, and ended her career with 98 points.
Phillips anchored the SMU defense from her center back position. She directed the attack out of the Mustangs' defensive third, and came forward to provide an extra target on free kicks and corner kicks. She had one goal this season, despite missing a pair off games because of injury.
Shepherd earned the most playing time of all SMU freshmen this year, notching two goals and an assist in her debut season on the Hilltop.
