DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Women's Soccer program fought hard against No. 14 Virginia but fell 5-1 at home on Sunday in Washburne Stadium.

After trailing at halftime, SMU (5-5-4, 0-4-2 ACC) cut the lead in half after Kaylee Noble scored her fourth goal of the season in the first minute of the second half, as the score stood 2-1 for the majority of the period before Virginia (7-3-2, 3-3-0 ACC) added three goals late to reach the final score.

Brooke Bunton led SMU in total shots with four, while Noble scored the Mustangs' lone goal, and Aubrey Brown finished the match with three saves, including saving a penalty shot in the 31^st minute.

The Mustangs suffered their first home loss of the season (5-1-4). SMU entered the game on a nine-match home unbeaten streak, the longest home unbeaten streak since 2003.

Virginia scored two goals early in the first half. Aubrey Brown got the Mustangs back on track, denying UVA on a penalty kick to keep the score at 2-0 in the 31^st minute.

SMU came out of the break with a vengeance and immediately responded after being shut out in the first half as Kaylee Noble got SMU on the board in the 46^thminute.

Kamiya Beck broke free down the far sideline and set Noble up perfectly to answer for the Mustangs. It was Beck's fourth assist of the season and Noble's fourth goal of the season and the 18^th of her career.

The Mustangs turned up the intensity in the second half and generated quality looks left and right in the frame. Julianne Richter had a shot go off the crossbar in the 57^th minute, followed by Beck pushing a shot deep inside the box just wide in the 60^th.

Bunton drew a foul deep in attacking territory, but Ella DeMott's attempt to send the cross on net off the free kick just missed in the 73^rd minute.

UVA earned their second penalty kick in the 82^nd minute, but this time they extended their lead back to two. Virginia added two more minutes later to reach the final score.

The match was a top-50 RPI showdown as SMU entered the game 42^nd in the RPI rankings while Virginia was ranked 14^th.
