PINEHURST, N.C. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team will enter the final round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at The Centennial Pinehurst Course No. 8 in third place and two strokes back after carding a 299 in round two. SMU sits at 592 for two rounds and is two shots behind co-leaders Michigan and Indiana (590). SMU and senior Colt Knost have won the team and individual events two straight years.
Knost (71-72-143) is tied for second individually at 1-under after an even-par round two. He trails Jorge Campillo of Indiana (-4) by three shots. After an opening round 71, Scott Barton shot 77 in round two and is now tied for 15th at 148. Scott Sikes again shot 75 to tie for 23rd at 150, while Frank Wrenn (78-75) and Brandon DeStefano (76-77) are tied for 41st at 153. Ben Tewes, playing as in individual, is tied for 48th at 78-76-154.
Tournament play concludes Tuesday with tee times off Nos. 1 and 10 at 8 a.m.
