OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (SMU) - The SMU rowing team notched two first-place finishes en route to a second-place overall team finish at the Midwest Intercollegiate Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., today. The Mustangs clocked a first-place finish in the varsity eight and novice four.

The Mustangs started the day off with a win in the Novice Four A race with a time of 8:05.15 while in the Novice Four B, the squad placed second with a time of 8:33.79. In the Varsity Four A heat, the Mustangs placed second with a time of 7:44.96 and in the Varsity Four B race, SMU also placed second with a time of 8:04.11.

In the Novice Eight match-up, the Mustangs placed fourth with a time of 7:49.48. With a time of 7:00.43, the Varsity Eight crew claimed first-place and in the Second Varsity Eight, the crew finished third with a time of 7:28.8.

The Mustangs will next compete in the South Central Regional Championships at Oak Ridge, Tenn., over the course of two days, May 12-13.
