OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (SMU) - The SMU varsity eight rowing crew competed in the first day of the Aramark South/Central Regional Championships at Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Mustang crew of Krystal Kulka, Meg Gaab, Alex Austin, Kelly McKinley, Ellen Cieszkiewicz, Amanda DeGroff, Jenise Dornenburg, Danielle Nehf and coxswain Liz Hagerty competed first this morning in a heat against North Carolina, Clemson, Minnesota, Michigan St., and Texas. The Mustangs placed fifth with a time of 7:06.81 and advanced to the afternoon semifinals.
In the semifinals, the Mustangs competed against North Carolina, Kansas St., Kansas and Iowa. SMU placed fifth with a time of 7:26.75 which advances them to the 9:20 a.m. varsity eight D Final set for Sunday. In that heat, the Mustangs will race against Eastern Michigan, Kansas St., Cincinnati and Murray St.
