SMU Takes Last Road Trip Of Regular Season
The Mustangs make their final road trip of the regular season, as they take on Memphis on Friday night and UAB on Sunday afternoon. SMU suffered a tough-luck loss to Marshall on Friday night, losing on a 86th minute goal, 1-0, before Shelby Hartweck scored two goals to give SMU a 2-1 win over East Carolina on Sunday. SMU closes out with three home matches, starting with #12 UCF on Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
SMU vs. Memphis
The Mustangs are 1-2 against Memphis, losing a 3-0 decision last season at Westcott Field. All three of the schools' meetings have come since SMU joined C-USA in 2005.
SMU vs. UAB
SMU and UAB are currently tied 2-2 in the all-time series. SMU won the first two meetings, before UAB won the last two, including a 2-1 decision last season at Westcott Field. Kristin Medeiros scored for the Mustangs in that contest.
Delightful Double For Hartweck
Shelby Hartweck scored two goals against East Carolina, helping the Mustangs to a 2-1 win last Sunday. The two goals gave Hartweck the first multi-goal game of her career, which was also the first multi-goal effort by an SMU player in 2009. Hartweck is now tied for the team lead in goals with three.
Spider Webb
Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Webb has a 0.71 goals against average over the past four games, as the Mustangs have gone 2-1-1 in that span, and posted a shutout against Rice.
It's May's Day
Sophomore Logan May is tied for the SMU lead with three assists this season, and also has two goals. May was named to the Conference USA all-freshman team in 2008 for her excellent season, which saw her tie for the SMU lead in goals.
Scovill Scores
Kenzie Scovill is tied for the team lead with three goals this season, scoring the game winners in SMU's wins against North Texas and UTSA, and against No. 16 California. Scovill, a freshman from Lewisville, Texas native has started every game for SMU so far, and has played 949 of 1190 possible minutes this season.
Transfer of Power
Leslie Briggs has quickly made an impact on SMU after transfering from North Carolina. The Carrollton native is tied for the team lead in goals with three, and has registered one assist. Briggs was named to the 2009 Saint Mary's Invitational All-Tournament Team.
C-USA Championship
The C-USA Women's Soccer Championship will take place at SMU's Westcott Field from November 4-8, with the top six teams from the league gaining entry.
Time Change For Southern Miss Game
The game time for the SMU-Southern Misss game at Westcott Field on October 25 is now 1 p.m., instead of 2 p.m. as first announced.
