PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (SMU)-SMU men's tennis (10-8) fell in a close 4-3 decision to No. 46 California (7-5) at the Beach and Tennis Club on Saturday, March 21 as SMU was unable to fend off a Golden Bear doubles sweep, with sophomore Mustang tandem Darren Walsh and Adham el-Effendi dropping only their second match of the season.

Winning in the number two spot at singles for SMU, junior Chris Hooshyar fought off a second-set tiebreaker loss to claim a victory (6-3, 6-7, 1-0) over Eoin Heavey. Sophomore Artem Baradach also claimed a win in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), downing Nick Andrews.

On court three, Walsh collected his fourth consecutive win in comeback fashion after dropping the first set and battling through a second set tiebreaker against Bozhidar Katsarov to improve his record to 10-2 on the season.

SMU returns to action Sunday against Saint Mary's in Pebble Beach, Calif. at the Beach and Tennis Club with a start time of 10:00 a.m.
